Lakeland, FL - March 6, 2019
Education bills making their way through the Florida legislature will be the topic of a Polk County Democrats town hall forum Monday, March 18 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bartow public library, 2150 S. Broadway, Bartow, 33830. County residents of all political viewpoints who are interested in Polk schools are invited to hear details about legislation that Florida politicians may be voting on during this year's legislative session.
From arming teachers to the growing shift of tax dollars from public schools to private entities, the stakes couldn't be higher for Polk's children, so parents need to arm themselves with details on potential new laws. The town hall will begin with a rundown of the state house and senate bills and their main objectives and provisions and possible implications for students. School board members, teachers and teacher representatives will also offer their viewpoints.
Parents and students will be welcome to join the conversation and make their concerns known directly to school officials.
