Please lend your voice to tell Governor Scott and the Republican Legislature that they, in Michael Moore's words, "have aroused the sleeping giant, known as the Working People," and that their days in office are numbered!

All across Florida on March 8th, rallies will be held in protest of the reckless and irresponsible gutting of public services and personal freedoms being put forward by Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida legislature.
The most unpopular governor in U.S. history, he is ranked with only 28% of the state now supporting him, after three months after taking office, Gov. Scott is proposing the disemboweling of nearly every government service in the state save his own, which he is doubling to the tune of $600 million:
Polk County citizens too, will be heard on March 8th. Lakeland will be host to a rally to Awake the State from 5:00 -- 7:00 p.m. on March 8 at Munn Park, near the flag pole, in downtown Lakeland. Speakers at the rally will include city council members, teachers, parents, union leaders, members of law enforcement and emergency services, advocates for the uninsured, the disabled, and the poor. Members of all communities affected by the legislature's unconscionable push to balance the state's budget by destroying people's jobs and lives rather than closing corporate tax loopholes are invited to attend. For groups and organizations that plan to participate, please contact Karen Welzel at 863-318-1087.

AMERICA IS NOT BROKE
Speech to Wisconsin Protestors By Michael Moore, March 5, 2011
Contrary to what those in power would like you to believe so that you'll give up your pension, cut your wages, and settle for the life your great-grandparents had, America is not broke. Not by a long shot. The country is awash in wealth and cash. It's just that it's not in your hands. It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and consumers to the banks and the portfolios of the uber-rich.
Today just 400 Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans combined. Let me say that again. 400 obscenely rich people, most of whom benefited in some way from the multi-trillion dollar taxpayer "bailout" of 2008, now have more loot, stock and property than the assets of 155 million Americans combined. If you can't bring yourself to call that a financial coup d'état, then you are simply not being honest about what you know in your heart to be true.
And I can see why. For us to admit that we have let a small group of men abscond with and hoard the bulk of the wealth that runs our economy, would mean that we'd have to accept the humiliating acknowledgment that we have indeed surrendered our precious Democracy to the moneyed elite. Wall Street, the banks and the Fortune 500 now run this Republic -- and, until this past month, the rest of us have felt completely helpless, unable to find a way to do anything about it.
Rarely in Florida history has a piece of legislation been so crafted to benefit a specific special interest as has Sen Dennis Jones’ “Destination Resort” casino gambling bill.
S.B. 1708 was designed to help Sheldon Adelson and Las Vegas Sands, who are now under federal investigation for bribing officials in Macao to speed up approval of $1 billion worth of condos in their gaming complex in the Chinese State. Probes by the DOJ and SEC were announced last week.
