Participation in the Forum was not as simple as saying “yes” to an invitation. Each candidate was first invited to participate in the PCPDCCandidate Assessment and Voter Awareness Initiative
by completing a candidate questionnaire. “The energy and resources ready to support Progressive Democratic candidates are at an all-time high,” according to James Roche, PCPDC Initiative Committee Chair. “This PCPDC initiative was established to provide information and candidate access for Polk County voters with progressive values to determine where to focus.” Responding to the questionnaire, derived from the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida’s platform, was the critical prerequisite for invitation to the Candidate Forum. All candidate responses and PCPDC ratings ranging from “Leans Progressive” to “Strongly Progressive” are posted on line atwww.polkprogressives.com
The Forum has turned into a family affair for Polk County Democrats, with the Polk County Democratic Executive Committee and eight county clubs and caucuses signing on to partner with the PCPDC.
