Representative Kionne L. McGhee, Fl House of Representatives, District 117-Miami has accepted our invitation to keynote our Gala on Saturday, March 19 at the Chain O' Lakes Complex in Winter Haven, FL.
He is a national motivational speaker , college professor, and author of a memoir: a mer (e) I-CAN is AMERICAN. He is also President and founder of 2NOIT Media & Publishing.
Rep. McKee is also one of the up and coming rising stars in the Florida Democratic Party.
Everyone will be inspired and moved by his personal testimony and how he overcame insurmountable odds to become an elected official, attorney, leader and role model for people of all ages.
Categorically stamped emotionally handicapped and mentally retarded, McGhee’s future forecast was cloudy with no silver lining. To the world, the numbers said it all—78 IQ, 1.9 GPA, 580 SAT score, and 0% chance of surviving past the age of 21. After an unfortunate brush with the law, McGhee had to face the threat of serving 20 years of prison with 4 felony charges against him. However, in March 1997, McGhee was absolved of all crimes and would later receive a jolt of awareness from his mother while coming down the courtroom steps. The judge’s leniency and his mother’s simple reply, “This should be a wakeup call” did what years of struggles and mistakes couldn’t. That day was when his world began to shift.
As McGhee says, "Don't let anyone else write your own story. Always make sure that the truth comes out and don’t allow other individuals who have different motives and agendas of their own to misrepresent who you are or what you have done."
Audiences will be inspired by his uplifting testimony.
