The September 7—10th Democratic Women’s Club of Florida Annual Convention in Sarasota has been cancelled due to the impending dangers associated with intensification of Hurricane Irma.
The Executive Committee has made this uneasy, but unanimous decision order to protect the safety of our members.
The Hyatt Regency will be informed of this decision as of this morning, September 5, 2017.
The Hotel, by contract has 30 days to refund our money. It is expected it will take the full 30 days. Meal purchase and vendor tabling refunds will be distributed after the hotel returns our money.
Clubs will be returned their registration checks uncashed.
Program Advertisements WILL NOT BE REFUNDED as this money has already been used for the printing of the program.
We urge our members who desire to cancel their personal hotel reservations with the Hyatt to do so as soon as possible. When calling the hotel, it is advised that you mention you're canceling reservations due to the hurricane.
Clubs will be informed of the time and location of our 2017 annual delegate assembly, to replace this convention, as soon as one can be arranged. It will most likely be in the central part of the state. The printed programs will be distributed at this meeting.
At this time our main concern is your safety and comfort. We urge you to follow the progress of this storm and obey the safety precautions of our local officials.
