Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Florida Southern University

Dr. H.A. Nethery received his MA in philosophy from the University of Memphis and his PhD in philosophy from Duquesne University. His dissertation, entitled Husserl and Foucault on the Subject: the Companions, was directed by Dr. Lanei Rodemeyer and attempts to bridge the work of Edmund Husserl and Michel Foucault through a series of analyses on the points where the work of these two philosophers meet. His areas of specialization are in phenomenology, contemporary continental philosophy, philosophy of race, and social and political philosophy. Dr. Nethery is currently working on a project in the area of the philosophy of race on the constitution of racialized perception through discursive and non-discursive practices.
