|Info:||The 2017 DWCF Convention in Sarasota was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. |
The DWCF Board has been scrambling to make alternative arrangements so we can still vote for the new leadership board, some resolutions, rules and other items.
The new date for a condensed version of our Conference will be November 4, 2017.
Deadline for registration is Friday, October 20, 2017.
Doors close at 8:25 AM on November 4th. No walk-ins will be allowed.
It is approximately a one hour drive from Cypress Gardens Blvd and US 27 to the Convention site. Arrangements are being made for a hotel nearby. It is possible to drive up and back the same day.
Lunch is included in the registration fee of $25. And yes, we will be getting our registration fees that we paid for the original convention returned to us, but that will take some time. Also, those delegates who sent in their payment for food will have that returned as well, but because DWCF must have it returned to them by the hotel, it may take a lot longer.
Dress will be business casual. We will do a group photo.
Bring your own water and morning beverage. Soda is included with lunch.
In addition to voting for officers, we will be voting on resolutions, bylaws and rules. We will have an Awards Luncheon (included in registration cost), followed by Region Meetings where Region Chairs will be elected. A great Region Training will also be offered, among other activities! REMINDER - the DWC East Polk Ridge club and the DWC-Lakeland will be moving into new Region 9, that will include Osceola, Orange and Brevard Counties and the officers of that new Region will be elected on Nov. 4.
They're planning on having a banner parade at the end of the day. So, we will take our banner for the parade.
Here is the important thing for us. We have 33 members. We are allowed 1 delegate for every 5 members, and I am an automatic delegate, not to be counted in the total. Therefore we can have 6 delegates.
I know Ruth Ann and Bob still want to go. I need to know if Catherine and Chelle are still planning to go. We are allowed 3-4 more delegates. Obviously the financial commitment is much less than the original convention, so if you want to go just for the day as a delegate or an Alternate on Nov. 4, I need to hear from you right away. This will actually be an opportunity for you to meet the new Board members and see how the Board meetings are done. Deadline for registration is Oct. 20.
Our DWC/EPR next meeting is on Oct. 14, 9-11:00 am at Nikko's Egg City in Haines City, so we can finalize convention plans at that meeting.
